For the last 10 years, the UK Government has spent over £1 billion on badger culling. Badgers are culled by farmers who believe that they spread TB to their cattle, although there is no current scientific evidence to support the idea that culling badgers reduces TB rates in cattle. 230,000 badgers have been culled in the last 10 years.
The UK Government has announced a 5 year plan to phase out badger culling, but they are still allowing the next culling season to go ahead.
