Earlier this year Norway announced their highest whaling quota in years for the 2026 season with a quota of 1,641 minke whales (Balaenoptera acutorostrata), being the highest quota globally.,
This is devastating news. The quota has increased by 235 whales since last year’s despite the quota not having been met with 429 whales hunted in 2025.
In claims by the remaining three countries that take part in this abhorrently cruel past time (Norway, Iceland & Japan) that quotas are implemented for sustainable ocean management, there is no consideration for the detrimental ecological effects on marine ecosystems and the global climate as a whole.
It’s time to end these barbaric hunts.
Please urge the Norwegian government and the Minister of Fisheries and Ocean Policy to act and ban whale hunting for good.
