Earlier this year Norway announced their highest whaling quota in years for the 2026 season with a quota of 1,641 minke whales (Balaenoptera acutorostrata), being the highest quota globally. With the hunting season coming to an end in September 2026, a total of 416 deaths have been recorded.
This is devastating news.
In claims by the remaining three countries that take part in this abhorrently cruel past time (Norway, Iceland & Japan) that quotas are implemented for sustainable ocean management, there is no consideration for the detrimental ecological effects on marine ecosystems and the global climate as a whole.
It’s time to end these barbaric hunts.
Please urge the Norwegian government and the Minister of Fisheries and Ocean Policy to act and ban whale hunting for good.
